Points where a graph intersects the coordinate
axes are of special interest in many problems. As illustrated
before, intersections of a graph with the x-axis have the
form (a, 0) and intersections with the y-axis have
the form (0, b).
The number a
is called an x-intercept of the graph and
the number b
a
y-intercept.
